The Spanish Government’s Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility yesterday announced the informative study of the project for the arrival and departure of the High speed train (TAV) to Vitoria-Gasteizincluding one subway station.
This permission comes after a review has taken place 11,000 accusationsdue to the environmental impact the works may have in the area around the Salburua wetland, located on the outskirts of the city.
Sources from the Ministry of Territorial Planning, Housing and Transport have recalled that this is a administrative step The ministry should have given this after the approval of the environmental impact assessment last March.
After this authorization, which definitively settles the accession of the TAV to the capital of Álava, it remains to be defined what the so-called “Arkaute knot”from where high-speed connections will depart with the rest of Euskadi and with the French state.
The informative study was signed yesterday by the Secretary of State of the Ministry, José Antonio Santano. There are no surprises in the document and the high speed will enter the capital of Alava through a tunnel 3.6 kilometers which will connect Salburua Boulevard and Pedro Asúa Street.
The new station will consist of two underground floors and of one parking for 400 vehicles.
