Late Thursday evening, a 57-year-old woman was killed in a head-on collision with a small truck on the B1 in Lower Austria. The man behind the wheel of the van was drunk.
A tragic accident occurred on Thursday evening shortly before 10:30 PM on the B1 near Maria Jeutendorf in the St. Pölten district.
The woman crashed her car into an oncoming small truck. The 57-year-old was trapped in the car and had to be freed by the fire brigade. She died at the scene of the accident from her serious injuries.
The driver was drunk
An alcohol test on the driver of the van (62) was positive, the Lower Austrian State Police Directorate said in a broadcast. The man was taken to St. Pölten University Hospital with injuries. He will be reported to both the St. Pölten Public Prosecutor’s Office and the responsible administrative authority.
