After a knife attack in Vienna-Ottakring last week, police were able to arrest a suspect when they caught him dealing. After his interrogation, a second suspect was identified; he allegedly handled the weapon during the crime.
The first suspect, a 21-year-old Algerian, was observed and arrested on Thursday while selling narcotics at Yppenplatz in Ottakring, police announced on Saturday.
26-year-old as suspect in the crime
During the interrogation of the 21-year-old, a second suspect, a 26-year-old Afghan, was identified and arrested in his apartment. He is said to have pulled out the knife and inflicted several stab wounds on the 22-year-old during the altercation last week.
The Algiers was initially reported in general, but shortly afterwards he was taken to a police detention center on a valid warrant for his arrest. The Afghan did not confess and was taken to a prison. Further investigations are underway.
The victim was able to leave the hospital
The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to the back during the nighttime attack. The young man has now been able to leave the hospital. There was no danger to life.
