Two young people traveling as a couple on an e-scooter were seriously injured in an accident in central Vienna late Friday evening. The boys had collided with a car at an intersection with traffic lights.
As the Vienna Professional Rescue Service reported on Saturday, the 15-year-old driver and his 14-year-old passenger collided with a car at the intersection of Johannesgasse and Schubertring. The 15-year-old was seriously injured in the impact and suffered head injuries and broken bones.
The boy had to receive emergency medical care from the professional rescue team, intubated and stabilized in a vacuum mattress. The teenager was taken to a clinic trauma room for further treatment.
The 14-year-old injured his shoulder in the fall and also had to be taken to hospital after receiving emergency medical care. Several rescue teams were present.
Did you run a red light?
According to police, current investigation suggests the boys may have driven through the red light on the rented e-scooter. Traveling with two people on such a vehicle is also not permitted.
