Winter conditions killed a driver (30) in the Tyrolean Lechtal on Friday evening: the driver collided with an oncoming bus, after which the car was thrown into the adjacent ditch. The driver of the car suffered serious injuries.
The fatal accident happened around 9:30 p.m. in the municipality of Elmen (Reutte district). The 30-year-old resident was driving his car on the B198 Lechtalstraße from Reutte towards Elbigenalp when he collided with the oncoming bus “probably due to winter road conditions”, according to police.
Seriously injured to the hospital
The force of the impact sent the car into the ditch. The 30-year-old was seriously injured and after first aid was taken by ambulance to the district hospital of Reutte.
The bus driver was unharmed
The 50-year-old bus driver, who was alone in the vehicle, escaped unscathed and unharmed. The car is a total loss and the bus was also heavily damaged.
