Dangerous scenes occurred in the Tyrolean lowlands on Sunday evening: a Spanish driver crashed into a concrete barrier in Kirchbichl in the Kufstein district, after which splintered parts were thrown against another vehicle. The person suspected of causing the accident was taken to hospital; an alcohol test was positive.
The accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. According to the police, the 39-year-old Spaniard was driving his car in Kirchbichl on the Loferer Bundesstraße towards Söll when he went too far to the right at the beginning of a bridge.
“The car then hit the concrete barrier there. “An oncoming vehicle was damaged by parts that had splintered from the concrete barrier,” police said.
Spaniard rescued to hospital
The two occupants of this vehicle were uninjured. “The 39-year-old was taken by rescue to Kufstein Hospital for evaluation,” investigators continued.
Driving under the influence
An alcohol test on the Spaniard was positive. His driver’s license was confiscated on the spot. There was also extensive damage to his car.
