Two suspected thieves in the Tyrolean Zillertal were looking for alcohol on Sunday evening. The suspects, only 14 and 16 years old, stuffed a backpack full of drinks at a gas station. When the employee confronted them about this, a scuffle broke out. After a brief escape, the duo was eventually tracked down.
The 14-year-old from Ghana and the 16-year-old Slovenian had an argument in a gas station in Mayrhofen around 7:30 p.m. The two youths allegedly placed several alcoholic drinks in a backpack and then tried to leave the store without paying.
A scuffle broke out
An employee got wind of the theft and confronted the duo. He asked the 14-year-old suspect to open the backpack.
“As a result, the teen became violent toward the employee and a brief scuffle ensued before the two suspects fled,” police said Monday.
Duo investigated during manhunt
But the escape was short-lived. As a result of an immediately started manhunt, the young people were arrested by a patrol. An alcohol test on the 14-year-old was positive. Follow associated ads.
