Ciao “Tutto Gas”: The recent Pentecost weekend full of escalations was the last straw for the executives of the popular seaside resort of Italo on the Upper Adriatic Sea. “We don’t want this anymore!”
The emergency medical services were constantly at work because of corpses lying around after drinking alcohol, police and security personnel spoke of one of the worst Pentecost weekends – furthermore spurred on by TV media who hoped for viewing figures based on filmed images of escalation, many partygoers did not know limits more (the “Krone” reported in detail about the degenerations).
And this despite Mayor Laura Giorgi’s stricter rules year after year – which have clearly remained ineffective. After the recent chaos, the city leader has had enough. “Thanks to countless helpers, we managed to get the city and the beach back in order in just a few hours early in the morning – but the mayor doesn’t want any of that, or we all don’t want any more. It was too much,” the actually very tolerant municipal councilor for tourism, Massimo Brini, told the “Krone”.
Alcohol only with table space
The ‘rules’ for 2025 must be discussed in the city’s senate in fourteen days. Some ideas for de-escalation: Absolutely ban partying or drinking on the beach, and only serve alcohol to restaurant and bar patrons with tables. In addition, they want to attract the “Tutto Gas” guests who are still coming out of town to the Luna Park area with possible alternative events. Where the annual, always quiet motorcycle festival takes place.
“We don’t want to do that to our holidaymakers”
“Next year Pentecost coincides with the high season at the beginning of June. And we don’t want to do that to our holidaymakers.” Bar and snack bar owners at the party hotspots are not happy with the announcements, hoteliers and restaurant owners do not care because of the season. And from a red-white-red point of view you can probably do without drunk people representing Austria with destruction, chaos and loud Josef Fritzl fan battle cries…
