Anyone who is allowed to take the written Matura almost always passes it. Depending on the subject, as many as 98 percent received a positive grade this year. This is evident from preliminary figures from the Ministry of Education, which show that mathematics would most likely be assessed negatively.
The annual figure has already been taken into account. This time, 99.3 percent of secondary schools passed the standardized German final exam, closely followed by English (99.2 percent) and mathematics (97.7 percent). In vocational secondary schools (BHS), including the annual mark or, if applicable, the compensatory exam, 99.1 percent received a positive mark for German. Here too, English comes in second place (98.9 percent), applied mathematics in third place (97.6 percent).
Less “Very good”
This year there was a slight decline in the top classes. In German, more than one in five people at the AHS (22.6 percent) had a “very good”, in English it was just over one in four (25.6 percent), and in mathematics 17 had .4 percent a “very good”. reaches. At BHS there were fewer top marks overall (15.5 percent for German, 20.1 percent for English and 14.1 percent for mathematics).
“I congratulate all the high school graduates with all my heart. The written Matura went smoothly and this year the students were able to maintain the high level of recent years with very good results,” said Minister of Education Martin Polaschek (ÖVP) in a press release.
There were or are still oral exams in June and the written part will be repeated in September.
