Young birds starved to death in their nests because animal abusers blocked the way for their parents. The motif seems to be situated at the place where the parent birds raised their offspring: they were of course a nuisance. Experts explain when nests can be removed and that such actions are also legally risky.
“Shame on you, animal haters” – Adelheid F. left a note in a parking lot in a residential complex in Eferding. “I used to see a redstart fly through the hole in the ceiling to feed her young. Then the hole was nailed up” – the animal rights activist removed the lid, but “the cubs had starved to death”. The suspected motive for the crime: there are cars under the hole and they are contaminated with bird droppings. “The car owner denied everything, but I filed a complaint with the district administration and the official veterinarian,” says the pensioner. She also called property management, where they explained to her that “the hole would not be closed until after the breeding season.”
