A 31-year-old Viennese had a fatal accident on Saturday while hiking in the Schladminger Tauern in Styria.
Together with nine other people, the Viennese climbed from the Landawirseehütte (Tamsweg district in the Salzburg Lungau) to the Pietrach (2,390 meters).
Crashed over sloping terrain
On the way back, the man slipped on the grass along a slope directly in front of the Krautgartscharte and fell left and right over the steep terrain, the police announced on Sunday.
Mountain rescue and emergency doctor on site
After about 200 metres, the 31-year-old was left lying lifeless in a steep gully. His companions administered first aid and alerted the mountain rescue service, but the arriving emergency doctor could only determine that the hiker was dead. There are no indications of foul play.
