A moment of inattention proved fatal for two young people in the Tyrolean lowlands on Saturday afternoon: a 15-year-old boy, accompanied by a girl (14), was riding his moped on a municipal road in Fieberbrunn (Kitzbühel district) when he collided with a car. Car crashed. The young couple suffered injuries.
The accident happened shortly after 4 p.m. A 29-year-old local man was driving his car on the municipal road Schloßberg in the town of Fieberbrunn in the direction of Grünbichl when the two young people on a moped approached him.
Teen overlooked car
The driver of the car stopped because of the narrow road. According to the police, the 15-year-old moped rider was distracted; he must have completely missed the car and crashed head-on into the vehicle. The impact caused the boy and girl to land on the hood and windshield of the car.
Duo rescued to hospital
Both young people were injured and, after first aid at the scene of the accident, were taken by ambulance to the St. Johann district hospital. “The 15-year-old was able to leave the hospital after outpatient treatment, the 14-year-old was admitted as an inpatient,” the director reported.
The driver and his passenger were uninjured. Both the moped and the car were severely damaged.
