In the famous Thoiry safari park in west Paris, a visitor was attacked and seriously injured by several wolves on Sunday.
According to French media, the incident occurred on Sunday morning. As the daily newspaper ‘Le Parisien’ reported, the woman reportedly went jogging for an unknown reason in an area closed to pedestrians.
Zookeepers became aware of the 36-year-old jogger’s cries of pain and immediately rushed to the scene of the accident. They were able to chase away the wild animals in time. The woman had bite wounds to her neck, back and calves and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The Public Prosecution Service has started an investigation
The 36-year-old previously stayed in a lodge in the safari park. This is offered as a special experience for interested visitors. The Public Prosecution Service has already started the investigation. It is still unclear whether this was due to negligence on the part of the 36-year-old or a violation of safety regulations by the park management. According to reports, only employees in Thoiry have been interviewed so far.
