Dangerous “accessory”: A vigilant security officer stopped a woman carrying a prohibited weapon around her waist during entry control at the Vienna Regional Court. Apparently she wanted to go to a criminal trial against young people.
A belt as a weapon made headlines in the bloody attack on a 35-year-old in Horn (Lower Austria). Last Friday, the Afghan wrapped the belt around his hand like brass knuckles and hit three people with full force. The broken pin of the buckle became lodged centimeters deep in the skull of a 16-year-old victim.
Dangerous “trend”
The belt as a weapon does not stand alone, but is often a conscious purchase, as evidenced by an incident at the Vienna Regional Court. There, a woman recently walked through security completely indifferent – and she was carrying a prohibited weapon. A belt was tied around her waist, with a hidden blade hidden in the buckle.
Thanks to a careful security employee from ‘Landl’, the woman, who was on her way to a juvenile criminal case, was arrested. The clerks immediately called the police, the knife in the belt buckle was confiscated and the woman wearing the belt was reported. “Such weapons are practically a trend among young people,” say security circles.
Prohibited according to the Weapons Act
They are also advertised on the Internet as ‘cutlery belts’. Some advertisements claim that such accessories are allowed. Of course this is not the case! A knife concealed in a belt buckle is a prohibited weapon. Acquiring, transporting or possessing without permission is a criminal offence.
