Old car enthusiasts will probably be heartbroken at this sight: a VW Beetle suddenly caught fire outside a butcher’s shop in Leonding on Tuesday. Luck: The owner of the company is a firefighter and, together with other first responders, was able to prevent major damage.
On Tuesday around 3 p.m., the classic car suddenly caught fire in front of a butcher’s shop in Leonding. The fire broke out in the engine compartment of the historic vehicle, a VW Beetle. It is still unclear what caused the fire.
Butcher as first responder
The quick intervention of emergency services could possibly have prevented major damage to the vehicle. It probably helped that the owner of the butcher shop is also a Floriani. Using fire extinguishers, helpers were able to keep the fire under control until the Leonding fire brigade arrived.
No injuries
Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries from the car fire. However, fans of vintage cars were presented with a sad sight: there was probably significant damage to the VW Beetle.
