The ill-fated aircraft, which was caught in a heavy hailstorm on June 9, was able to complete its first test flight on Tuesday after extensive repair work. The Airbus took off for 20 minutes.
The repairs took several weeks and numerous checks were carried out on the machine. According to the AUA, the aircraft should now be used for commercial flights again as soon as possible – in time for the start of the holidays, reports the industry portal “Austrian Wings”.
20-minute test flight over Vienna and Lower Austria
In addition to replacing the damaged parts, various instruments, in particular the AirData and weather radar systems, were also checked. The ill-fated aircraft completed its first test flight around noon on Tuesday. The plane circled over Vienna and Lower Austria for 20 minutes, everything went smoothly.
The Airbus A320, en route from Palma de Mallorca to Vienna, ended up in the thunder cell above Hartberg in Styria on June 9. First the emergency call “Mayday” was made. The plane landed safely at Vienna Airport and no one was injured.
