Two Tyroleans were each fined by the Innsbruck Regional Court for being violent on the sidelines of a carnival event or resisting plainclothes police officers.
“Yes, it was, yes it was, yes, that’s what the old knights warned!” True to this motto, two locals dressed as knights took part in a carnival in the Tyrolean Oberland in February.
And apparently exaggerated: the first defendant (48) hit his 19-year-old female victim on the buttocks with his hand and pinched her there and accused and defamed a plainclothes police officer of the same offense.
The brother also got involved
An argument then broke out with the victim’s friend and a police officer was injured during the next official act. The latter also happened because the brother (57) of the first suspect became involved.
No evidence of defamation
Only in the case of defamation did the judge grant an acquittal. “The evidence here is too thin,” he said in his ruling. However, there is no doubt in his mind as to whether the sexual harassment occurred. The resistance against state power that took place is also undisputed.
fines imposed
The police officers interviewed indicated that they had clearly informed the first defendant of their role. “It cannot therefore be possible that he did not know who he was dealing with,” the judge said.
He imposed a fine of 1,200 euros each on the heavily drunk ‘knights’, half of which was conditional.
