Horrible industrial accident in the Tyrolean town of Ausserfern: a 44-year-old cut his upper arm with a chainsaw while doing woodwork. His companion immediately raised the alarm. After initial treatment, the injured man was flown to hospital by emergency helicopter.
The fatal accident took place on Monday afternoon in Lermoos. The 44-year-old German, who lives in the Reutte district, was working on woodwork together with a 62-year-old resident in the Tuftlalm parking lot on Fernpassstrasse, the police said.
“Chainsaw pulled back”
Something happened while cutting a tree trunk to length: the chainsaw got stuck. “And when the man released the saw from the trunk and activated the throttle, the chainsaw returned and the running chain struck the worker’s upper arm,” investigators continued.
Take an emergency helicopter to the hospital
The 44-year-old suffered a cut injury. The victim’s companion immediately provided first aid and called 911. After emergency medical treatment at the scene of the accident, the injured person was flown to the hospital in Reutte by emergency helicopter.
