Fire alarm Wednesday morning on the Brenner highway in Tyrol: a truck caught fire near Matrei. The A13 had to be closed in both directions for a short time. A backlog developed.
Shortly before 7:30 a.m. the truck – a concrete pump – caught fire between the Schönberg and Matrei toll booths. According to police, the driver was able to steer the car onto the emergency lane.
Total closure in the short term
The operation forced the A13 to be completely closed in both directions for a short time. The highway towards Innsbruck was finally reopened around 8:15 am. About an hour later, traffic was able to move towards Italy again.
Dosage measures started
According to the police, the operation has created a backlog. Appropriate dosage measures were taken and were effective. In the early morning, the extinguishing and clean-up work was still in progress. There have been no reports of injuries so far.
