A 32-year-old from Dortmund is in custody for attempted murder for allegedly mutilating and cutting the penis and testicles of a 66-year-old relative in Herne four months ago.
His dog’s persistent barking on the night of February 27 had attracted the attention of the neighbors. Groaning sounds were heard, firefighters opened the door and found the man with life-threatening injuries.
Genitals and instruments of crime disappeared
The crime initially confused the police: the 66-year-old was unable to provide conclusive information about the crime immediately after the crime and could not be interrogated for a long time afterwards. The severed genitals or any instrument of the crime were not found.
Extensive investigation has now led to the arrest of a 32-year-old man from Dortmund. This is a close relative. The relationship between the two was unknown.
DNA Commissioner struck
The 32-year-old was targeted by investigators through a comparison of DNA traces. A judge executed the arrest warrant that had already been requested for attempted murder and serious bodily harm.
