The indefinite strike that Bilbobus employees have been waging since April 9 has been called off after staff said yes to the pre-agreement agreement signed by the UGT, CCOO and USO unions with the employers, and which ELA and LAB reject.

A total of 527 employees out of approximately 650 employees who are part of the workforce discussed this preliminary agreement this Wednesday, which received 332 votes in favor and 186 against, while 6 zero votes and 3 blank votes were counted, sources report. labor unions.

Thus, Bilbobus employees will return to work in different shifts this Thursday, after the strike was automatically called off, with the support of the majority of the text signed this Tuesday by UGT, CCOO and USE and the company responsible for the service, Biobide.

The signing of the agreement will take place in the coming days, the sources said.

The power plants ALS and LABWe, who are in favor of continuing the strike, reject the content of the preliminary agreement, realizing that the purchasing power of the workers is not guaranteed.

ELA believes that the agreement “subjects future salary increases to the decisions of the public service” and “does not address the solution to the precarious recruitment situation faced by Bilbobus employees”, while LAB believes that the content is “practically no different from the previous. agreement that was put to a vote and which the workers rejected.

Salary increase and improvement of the situation of staff in the most precarious situation

As agreed, the salary increase is related to the increase applied in the government service. A salary increase has been agreed for 2022 and 2023 that is equivalent to that of the government service plus 4%, the sources indicate.

For 2024, 2025 and 2026, this would be the increase applied in the public sector and if the CPI were to exceed this, that additional percentage would be 0.7%, 0.6% and 0.5% respectively. For 2027, the parties have agreed on a percentage of 0.5%, but in this case it would be a single, non-consolidatable payment.

Among other measures, the union majority and the company have also agreed to improve the situation of staff in the most precarious situations. Staff who were working 62% part-time will become full-time and some temporary staff will begin to fill “the 62% gap”, they have indicated.

Rejection of the first preliminary agreement

The acceptance of the new document by the staff puts an end to a labor dispute that has been in a state of uncertainty recently after the staff rejected it by a narrow majority in mid-May last year. a first preliminary agreement reached between the recipient of the service and the majority of union representation that UGT, CCOO and USO have, with opposition from ELA and LAB.

He rejection of the meeting It marked the continuation of the indefinite strike that the staff had supported from Monday to Friday and led to the resignation of the then chairman of the works council.

After the workers’ meeting, on May 17 resigned the hitherto chairman of the works committee, José Fernández (UGT), who was replaced from his position by Ángel Jauregi (ELA).
