“He doesn’t drive around potatoes or apples, but our kids do.” A Salzburg father couldn’t believe his eyes when his 16-year-old daughter showed him a short cell phone video of their school trip. Your HTL class was on a tour in Lower Austria last week by coach. On the way back, the bus driver allowed himself to be led into an absolutely irresponsible act – captured on a mobile phone camera.

What does it say? The driver is visibly comfortable behind the wheel and has his shoes off. He rests his feet nonchalantly on the dashboard. “It went on for so long, just unbelievable,” says the family man.
Written warning
The driver’s employer – a bus operator from Upper Austria – does not understand the behavior of his employee. “I was completely blown away when I saw the video,” he says. He promptly asked his driver for a report. In fact, he wanted to fire the perpetrator immediately. He now gets a “last chance” including a strict written warning.
Just a few weeks ago, it became clear how important it is to have a wide-awake and attentive bus driver. On the night of May 19, a coach hit a concrete wall on the construction site on the western motorway near Eugendorf. The driver had previously attempted a risky overtaking maneuver. 19 people were injured.
