A brazen and particularly aggressive thief was unmasked on Thursday evening when he was travelling in the Tyrolean Oberland with an ÖBB Railjet. The suspect – a Libyan (24) – was travelling with a stolen wallet, including the ticket and identity card of a foreigner. He was arrested!
At around 9:45 p.m., the Tyrol control center reported that the Railjet, which was currently in the Oberland, contained an aggressive passenger who had also handed over a stolen, foreign ÖBB ticket to the train crew.
The police were waiting at the next train station
Police then immediately went to the Imst-Pitztal train station, where the express train had its next scheduled stop. The suspect was found there around 10 p.m. and spoken to. “The suspect was a 24-year-old Libyan,” the director said.
“During the personal search, a stolen wallet containing cash and another person’s identification card was found and seized. The stolen card had already been taken from the man by ÖBB employees,” the investigators continued.
Released after questioning
The suspect was temporarily detained. After questioning, the 24-year-old was released and released.
