Unable to tolerate the exuberant cheering of football fans, a 64-year-old from Traun (Upper Austria) threatened to shoot into the crowd with a pump-action shotgun. The police cleared the parking lot and were able to arrest the suspect a short time later.
Shortly after midnight on Thursday, an initially unknown person called the police station in Traun and complained about the noise pollution at the Traun intersection after the victory of the Turkish national football team in the European Championship match against the Czech Republic. He also made it clear to the police officers that they could not solve the problem and that he would therefore shoot those who made noise with a pump-action shotgun.
Intersection cleared by officers
He repeated this threat several times and then hung up without giving his name. The police immediately went to the Trauner intersection, cleared the busy parking lots there and cordoned everything off. Detectives have now also discovered the identity of the man, whose home address is in the immediate vicinity.
Weapons found
There too they met the man and arrested him, which he maintained without resistance. In his accommodation the officers found several disabled long guns, pistols, CO2 pistols and some knives. These were secured. The investigation is ongoing.
