Announced with a call – school in Linz evacuated due to bomb threat

Date:

On Thursday, the Karlhofschule in Linz-Urfahr had to be evacuated and searched. Shortly after 7:00 a.m., a caller reported a bomb threat to the police.

The unknown person alerted the police via the emergency call and ended up in the state control center. He had announced that there was a bomb in the school on Teistlergutstrasse.

Students evacuated
An articulated bus from Linz AG took 350 pupils from the special school, the Karlhofschule and the after-school care centre to alternative accommodation at the ASKÖ movement centre (ABC centre) on Hölderlinstrasse in Bachlberg. Specialists then examined the school building room by room.

“I would like to thank everyone involved, especially the emergency services, teachers and educators, for their quick and professional action to ensure the safety of the children and school staff at all times,” said Deputy Mayor Karin Hörzing.

Not an isolated case
Unfortunately, bomb threats against schools are not that rare. This year there were already several, including against the Spittelwiese Academic College in Linz during the Matura preparations, which practically paralyzed the entire city center for hours. Incidentally, there was no threat against schools during the holidays …
