According to the American newspaper, the country needs a candidate with full powers that the current president has failed to demonstrate, to face a threat as serious to the nation as Republican Donald Trump.

‘The New York Times’ the president has asked Joe Biden wants to end the election race, after this week’s presidential debate. The American newspaper says the country needs a candidate with full powers to deal with the “threat” posed by Donald Trump, whose powers the current president has not demonstrated, according to him.

“The president appeared on Thursday evening as the shadow of a great civil servant (…) It was difficult for him to explain what he would achieve in a second term. It was difficult for him to respond to Trump’s provocations (… ) And on more than one occasion it was difficult for him to finish a sentence,” the North American newspaper complains.

Despite the criticism, the leading American newspaper maintains its support for the president, in case there is no change in the Democratic candidacy.

‘Washington Post’

The American newspaper is not the only one to have reacted to the first election debate for the presidency of the United States of America. Although it did not directly ask the president to leave the election race, the ‘Washington Post’ has asked him to consider the idea, after a “calamity” of debate.
