For velvet paw “Grinch”, the year 2023 ends with a happy ending. The found three-legged cat can move to a new, loving home.
At the beginning of this year, the then one-year-old male cat was found injured on the streets of Croatia and brought to the animal shelter in Vösendorf in the Mödling district via a partner organization.
The brave male had to have his entire leg and part of his tail removed. Plus, the poor guy has a cross eye – probably the result of some serious trauma.
Happy ending for emergency fur
Now there’s a Christmas miracle for the three-legged house cat. Because “Grinch” can move into a loving new home. “We are very happy with it. He was also one of our problem children,” says Stephan Scheidl, head of the animal shelter in Vösendorf.
Misconception about black cats
It’s sad that black cats in particular have to wait much longer for a loving home in animal shelters. There is still a superstition that the black velvet paws bring bad luck.
“In general, we see the phenomenon that black animals, especially dogs, find it much more difficult to find a new home than animals of other colors,” Scheidl explains.
