After Kremlin propagandist Anton Krassowski was fired on Monday by Russian state broadcaster RT for making outrageous statements about, among other things, the drowning of Ukrainian children, he again apologized for his verbal blunder: “I’m an idiot. only crossed the line, I accidentally deleted it:”
The scandal was sparked by Krassovsky’s demand on a TV show that Ukrainian children who believe Ukraine was occupied by Russia should either be thrown into a river and drowned, or locked up in a hut and set on fire. He also denied Ukraine’s right to exist, called for the shooting of Ukrainians and downplayed rape. The show caused international outrage. In this regard, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called on countries around the world to ban RT in their own countries.
utterances „barbaric and horrible”
The broadcaster itself reacted immediately and the preliminary announcement was made: “Anton Krassowski’s statements are barbaric and horrific,” the head of RT, Margarita Simonyan, explained the move. Before that, as head of RT’s Russian-language program, Krassowski had preached hatred against Ukraine for months.
Simonian spoke of a “temporary madness” that bothered Krassovsky. She is terminating the partnership for now so that no one would think that she or other RT employees shared this view, she added.
sorry “touched”
Krassowski said Monday he regretted crossing the border. Sometimes he gets too carried away in his programs, that’s how he justified his statements. But apparently he realized that this apology wasn’t enough and he did it again.
“I think of every child, every mother, every family. And I think and suffer with every child on the other side. I wish there would be no deaths, that no children would die. Believe me, every baby tear is my pain, my nightmare. I don’t wish death on anyone, anyone. I’m an idiot,” the Swiss “Blick” quoted the apology in the wording.
