Summer vacation is coming or has already started, but almost seven percent of all local children and young people have to correct something that is not sufficient. The pressure is great!
Until the last school assignments in mid-June, our approximately 1.07 million students in the country were able to improve their grades. According to detailed calculations by the Austrian Statistical Office, around 73,600 children and young people still have the dreaded “stain” on their report card at the end of the year, which inevitably also entails a large “stain”.
“Accusations and insults are completely misplaced”
A horror scenario for the child itself, but even more often for the parents. If there is not enough, the world will not end, of course, as numerous experts in the country are currently confirming: “The legal guardians must absolutely remain calm. Accusations and insults are completely out of place,” it says.
Education Minister Martin Polaschek has mixed feelings about the local detentions, but at the same time emphasizes: “I have decided to make 14 million euros available for free educational assistance in Austria. With this money we provide targeted support to young people who need it and help them develop their potential.”
160,000 hours of learning support
To date, over 160,000 hours of learning support have been provided and approximately 20,000 students have benefited from this. Demand for summer courses is also increasing, with approximately 35,673 current enrolments.
But these offers are usually no great consolation for five-year-old students; often the only option is the expensive route to local tutoring institutes. 49 percent of all students have already used external learning support this school year, making the company worth a whopping 168 million euros. Tips for the summer: price comparison and rest
With price differences of 211 percent for individual lessons and 140 percent for small groups, the comparison is certainly worth it when it comes to tutoring, emphasizes the local Chamber of Labor. However, consumer advocates also strongly warn against so-called bargains on the Internet: the free trials usually lead directly to expensive subscription models.
The most important points for the coming summer of learning are not financial; it is all about the right strategy! You need a recovery phase first, after all, a vacation is still a vacation. And only then can you set realistic goals and fixed learning times. Then nothing stands in the way of a positive conclusion.
