A young prisoner was found dead in his cell at Graz-Karlau prison on Monday morning. Two fellow inmates raised the alarm. The circumstances of his death are still completely unclear. An autopsy has been ordered and the police are investigating.
According to initial information, the victim was housed in the infirmary of Karlau prison along with two other prisoners. It is not yet known why the 25-year-old was there. His two cell neighbors raised the alarm in the early hours of the morning after the prisoner showed no signs of life.
No visible consequences of violence
Prison guards immediately came to help, but unfortunately there was nothing more they could do for the young prisoner. What is certain is that there was no visible evidence of violence, at least from the outside. The Graz public prosecutor has ordered an autopsy to clarify the circumstances of the death.
