Numerous airline passengers at Graz Airport had an extremely unpleasant start to their vacation: instead of enjoying the sun on the Turkish Riviera, they had to accept a delay of more than 25 hours. “Many people had to sleep in the car,” said one of the many angry passengers.
Actually, a Sun Express flight was scheduled to depart for Antalya on the Turkish Riviera on Sunday at 7 p.m. But nothing came of it, angry holidaymakers tell “Krone”.
The plane did not arrive and the departure was postponed to Monday at 5:30 p.m. “People from further away had to sleep in their cars, it was completely chaotic,” reports one affected person. According to the airport, there were hardly any hotel rooms available in and around Graz because of the Grand Prix in Spielberg.
The next day another disappointment
Graz Airport does not know exactly why the plane did not arrive on Sunday: “We only heard from the airline that there were operational reasons and that the flight was postponed to Monday at 5:30 p.m.,” says airport spokeswoman Doris Pölt.
But then the next disappointment: even at the announced time on Monday, no plane left for Antalya, but was supposed to have left from there only for Graz. The passengers lost more than 25 hours (!) of their vacation – and the stranded passengers were accordingly angry and frustrated. “Of course, such a situation is extremely unpleasant. But unfortunately we have no influence on that,” said airport spokeswoman Pölt.
