In terms of social security affiliation, the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) added 16,819 additional workers, representing a total of 1,019,773.
Unemployment has risen by 0.94% in the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) and fallen by 0.86% in Navarra compared to the previous year, according to data released on Tuesday by the Spanish government’s Labor Ministry.
Compared to the previous month, the Basque Country added a total of 560 members to social security in June, 0.05% more. The figure therefore remains above one million, at 1,019,773 contributors.
With June, there has been an increase in the number of affiliated members for five consecutive months, although this time it was even weaker. After January, a traditionally bad month for employment due to the end of the Christmas campaign, lost 9,756 donors.
According to data published on Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion and Social Security, if the comparison is made year-on-year, the evolution is also positive, as 16,819 more people are registered with Social Security than in June 2023, which represents a growth of 1.68%.
By area, the month-on-month variation shows an increase in membership in Gipuzkoa (0.20) and Bizkaia (0.05), with 692 and 241 more members respectively, which translates into a total of 340,204 and 511,402 members. In Álava it decreased by 0.22% (-347) to 168,167 contributors.
Compared to June 2023, membership is growing in the three areas. This is happening by 2.06% in Álava (3,398 more), 1.75% in Bizkaia (8,783 more) and 1.38% in Gipuzkoa (4,677 more).
Of the total number of members in Euskadi, 848,369 are registered in the general regime, 167,274 are self-employed, 27,860 are at home, 4,130 in the sea and 2,509 in the agricultural sector.
In Spain as a whole, social security reached a new record in June with an average of 21,392,889 members, 71,095 more than the previous month, thanks to growth in the hotel and catering industry and trade.
