According to Ukrainian military intelligence, the Russian armed forces are preparing for a longer war. The Russian army’s plans have been extended by another 120 days until at least the end of October.
This indicates that the Kremlin does not expect to be able to achieve its military goals quickly.
More heavy fighting for Sievjerodonetsk
The heaviest fighting, meanwhile, is taking place in the now almost completely destroyed strategically and psychologically important industrial city of Sievjerodonetsk in eastern Ukraine – the only city in the Luhansk region not yet under full Russian control.
The Ukrainian governor in charge said the situation there was “the worst in the country”: it is impossible to count the shelling.
Meanwhile, the German newspaper “Bild am Sonntag” reports that Chancellor Scholz wants to travel to Kiev together with Italian Prime Minister Draghi and French President Macron.
