A hiker was probably surprised on Saturday evening when his dog suddenly tracked down an exotic giant snake in Ebenthal (Carinthia). The man immediately alerted the local fire department.
The owner and the dog were out and about in the area of the Ebenthal waterfalls on Saturday evening when the four-legged friend discovered the unusual and especially large snake that was sunbathing on the grass. After an initial shock, the hiker immediately alerted the volunteer fire department of Ebenthal.
“I immediately recognized that it was an exotic giant snake and immediately sent a video to Helga Happ,” says Jürgen Kilzer from the FF Ebenthal, who together with his comrades recently completed a training in handling exotic reptiles at the Happ Reptile Zoo.
The expert confirmed the suspicion. “Correctly identified. It is a ball python that is originally from Africa,” Happ explained. The firefighters recovered the snake and kept it in the armory overnight before transporting it to the reptile zoo the next day.
