It has been warm the past few days and it will stay that way: According to weather experts, temperatures will even rise again in the new week, with peaks of up to 35 degrees! With the heat, the chance of sometimes heavy thunderstorms will increase again in the second half of the week…
As the week progresses, temperatures will noticeably rise. Meteorologist from UBIMET Austria even predicts maximums of over 30 degrees in every federal state on Wednesday. “In the west, the peak of the heat will be reached on Wednesday with 35 degrees in Innsbruck, and similar highs are in sight in the far east on Thursday.”
Highest values on Monday in Carinthia
The week starts with some cloud in the mountains and in the south, but this will clear up quickly in the morning. During the day, a widespread mix of clouds and sun will develop. Outside the Alps, the sun will even dominate and even in the mountains, the tendency for showers is very small. Up to 30 degrees are possible, with the highest values in the Oberinntal and Carinthia.
Highest possible values in Innsbruck
Tuesday will remain mostly sunny, with only a few loose cumulus clouds above the mountains in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise again, with a maximum of 33 degrees expected. Wednesday will be just as summery: the sun will shine from morning to evening. “In the western and southern mountains, there will be a rain shower or an isolated heat thunderstorm here and there in the afternoon, but in large parts of the country it will remain dry,” says Zimmermann. In the Inntal too, there will be 30 to even 35 degrees with the highest values.
Showers from Vorarlberg to Upper Austria
On Thursday, local showers will fall in the first half of the day from Vorarlberg to Upper Austria. During the day, the sun will often shine, especially in the east and south, but in the course of the afternoon, cumulus clouds and a few thunderstorms will form over the entire mountain area, which will locally bring large amounts of rain. Temperatures will still reach 28 to 35 degrees from west to east.
Friday is unstable: initially the sun will shine in the south and east, but from the west heavy rain and thunderstorms will come as the day progresses. In the west it will cool down, in the south and east maxima of around 30 degrees are still expected.
The tendency for rain and thunderstorms will remain high during the weekend, especially in mountainous and hilly areas. Temperatures will temporarily drop slightly, but will remain at summer levels. The next warming is already announced on Sunday.
