Two people seriously injured in knife attack in northern Israel

Two men in their twenties have been found seriously injured according to local emergency services on Wednesday after a stabbing in northern Israel. In addition, a third person was treated for shock. Police are investigating whether it was a “terrorist” act.

The incident took place at around 11:30 local time (08:30 GMT) in a shopping mall in the city of Carmiel and the two injured were taken to hospital. It was one of the victims of the attack who shot the attacker and “neutralized” him, according to the head of the northern police district, Shuki Tahauko, and local media.

Police officers have open to attacker“He was neutralized at the scene and numerous members of the Northern District Police Department are present at the scene,” police said in a statement.

The suspect is an Israeli citizen who lives in the Arab town of Nahf, near Carmiel, according to the Haaretz newspaper, which noted that police officers entered the town and detained suspects in the shopping center.

“When I arrived at the mall, they sent me to the second floor. I saw two injured men, men in their 20s, lying next to the stalls (of the mall) with penetrating wounds,” an emergency services spokesman said in a statement.
