On Friday evening, two rival groups attacked each other in the Anton Kummerer Park in Vienna. The members, some of whom were minors, had knives, gas canisters and firearms with them. At least three men were injured.
According to the current findings, the two groups agreed to the fight via social networks. The people involved come from Syria (between 15 and 21 years old) and from Russia. They met on Friday evening around 9:40 pm in the Anton-Kummerer-Park in the 20th district with firearms such as blank pistols, knives, irritant gas sprays and impact weapons.
At least two Syrians and a Russian were injured, two by gunfire and one by a knife attack. Police received multiple emergency calls.
Cars damaged
When the officers arrived at the park, they found a few people, including wounded. However, most of the group had already fled. The Vienna Rescue Service treated the wounded, the police discovered five damaged cars and seized several suspected murder weapons in the area. The exact sequence of events, the number of suspects and the motives were initially unclear.
