Mixed summer weather is expected in the coming week: According to Geosphere Austria’s forecast, it will be hot, humid and sometimes thundery. Although the week will start with dense cloud and rain in parts of the country, it is expected that it will be up to 29 degrees during the day on Monday.
Monday starts north of the main Alpine ridge and in the north and east with numerous dense clouds and local showers. Further south and southeast, however, it is sunny. As the day progresses, it clears up more and more everywhere, only in the mountains the cumulus clouds with a tendency to showers in the afternoon become thicker. In the morning it is 13 to 19 degrees, later 22 to 29 degrees.
Tuesday: Increasingly warmer, locally warm thunderstorms possible
The influence of high pressure will ensure mostly sunny and increasingly warmer weather in the eastern Alpine region on Tuesday. However, cumulus clouds and sometimes local thermal thunderstorms may also form during the day, especially above the Alpine peaks. There will be a weak to moderate wind from east to south with early temperatures between 13 and 20 degrees. The maximum daytime temperatures will be 27 to 33 degrees.
Wednesday to a sweaty 36 degrees
On Wednesday the sun will shine brightly until the afternoon and it will be hot to very hot and sometimes humid. Later, however, the cumulus clouds will thicken and the tendency for rain and thunderstorms will increase, especially in the west and north and generally above the mountains. After 14 to 21 degrees in the morning, temperatures will reach 29 to 36 degrees during the day.
On Thursday, there will initially be residual cloud and local showers, mainly on the northern side of the Alps, but also in the north and northeast. As the day progresses, the sun will come out everywhere again and it will become warm and humid. In the afternoon, however, the tendency for thunderstorms in the mountains will increase considerably again and individual thunderstorms can later move to the lowlands. The minimum temperatures are 15 to 22 degrees, the maximum temperatures are 27 to 33 degrees, with the highest values in the southeast.
Very warm on Friday, especially in the east
On Friday, it will be sunny and warm in large parts of the country. Only in the west will the first rain showers and thunderstorms be possible in the morning; in the afternoon, the tendency for thunderstorms will also increase significantly in East Tyrol, Salzburg and Upper Austria. The wind will blow moderately to strongly, initially from the southeast to the south, after which the thunderstorms will increasingly come from the west. The early temperatures will again range from 15 to 22 degrees, later reaching 28 to 35 degrees, with the highest values in the east.
