A man got stuck in a carousel during a church event in Fürth, Bavaria. He died in hospital.
According to police, the 31-year-old was standing Sunday night near the ride’s control booth, which moves in a circle from top to bottom during operation. He had attempted to remove a shoe that one of the passengers had lost while it was still running and climbed onto the frame of the carousel to do so.
The 31-year-old was hit by the carousel and trapped between the ground and the chassis. After the operation was stopped, rescuers freed the man.
Investigation procedure started
He was resuscitated on the spot and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died of his injuries a short time later. The ride operator was investigated on suspicion of negligent homicide.
