The Vienna police were able to arrest a fleeing suspect after the mass brawl and stabbing in Meidling and Brigittenau. An empty pistol was seized from his apartment. Other suspects are still at large.
In total, four people aged 15, 18 and 22 were taken to hospital in Meidling with serious injuries on Sunday evening. Several armed and partly masked men fled shortly afterwards. When questioned, the victims said that they had been attacked by masked men with hammers, glass bottles, knives and firearms in front of the station entrance.
Connection possible
The police assume that there could be a connection between the stabbing in Meidling at night and the mass brawl in Brigittenau in recent days. On Monday morning, the officers were able to arrest a suspect (29) in Donaustadt. According to the police, he is said to have taken several suspects in a car to the Anton-Kummerer-Park on Friday evening and fled shortly afterwards.
Empty weapon seized
In a subsequent house search, an empty pistol and electronic data carriers were also seized. He refused to testify and was taken to a prison. Further investigations are ongoing in both cases.
