As the Secretary of State for Employment, Joaquín Pérez Rey, stated at the table after the meeting, it is the task of the Spanish government to reach an agreement “with all parts” including the employers’ organisations CEOE and Cepyme.
This measure, he explained, is complemented by another very important measure for the government, which includes an aggravating circumstance for violations related to the impact of working time on the safety and health of workers.
The reduction in working hours, included in the government agreement between PSOE and Sumar, aims to achieve this maximum working week of the current 40 hours, to 38.5 hours this year and to 37.5 hours next yearan approach that already has the support of the unions.
