In the middle of the night, a parked car suddenly caught fire in Vienna

Date:

A car suddenly caught fire in Vienna-Hietzing on Wednesday evening. According to Christian Feiler, spokesman for the professional fire brigade, not only was the vehicle completely ablaze, but the car parked next to it was also heavily damaged on one side and a third car was also hit. The fire is believed to have started in a large waste container.

In addition, the thermal insulation facade of the house in front of which the vehicles were parked was damaged, Feiler said.

Several vehicles damaged
The fire brigade received the alarm shortly after 3 a.m. Six vehicles with 27 emergency services rushed into Tuersgasse. There they found the garbage bin and a VW Passat next to it completely on fire. A Volvo next to the Passat burned out on one side, and a Toyota in front of the house also caught fire. The facade of the house was also hit by the flames.

Volvo was just loading
The fire brigade extinguished the flames using a breathing air hose. The Volvo was a hybrid car that was currently being charged. The emergency services disconnected the car from the electricity grid and opened it with a hydraulic spreader. In the car they removed the battery and the so-called burner switch.

No people were injured in the fire
After about 80 minutes the operation was over. The cause of the fire is still unclear. The professional fire brigade suspects that the fire started in the large waste container. Fortunately, no people were injured.
