“I want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am determined to stay in this race, to go all the way and defeat Donald Trump,” the US president said.
On Monday, US President Joe Biden sent a letter to Democratic senators and lawmakers in Congress, urging him to continue the presidential race against Donald Trump.
I want you to know that despite everything speculations in the press and in other areas, I am determined to stay in this race, to go to the end and defeat Donald Trump,” he stated.
The Democrat has said he would not run for president again “if he didn’t absolutely believe” he was “the best person to defeat the former Republican president (2017-2021).”
Biden has said that following criticism sparked by his poor performance in the June 27 presidential debate, he has had “extensive conversations with party leaders, elected officials, rank-and-file members and voters.”
“I have heard the being worried aboutof the people and the fears they express in good faith about what is at stake in these elections. I am no stranger to it,” declared the 81-year-old president, who will stand for re-election on November 5 after being confirmed by his party’s representatives this summer.
Biden has reported that he has also received numerous messages these days “expressions of affection”“I am grateful for the strong and steadfast support of so many elected Democrats in Congress and across the country,” he said.
Biden has also emphasized the importance of primaries which were held in several states, where, without another powerful candidate to overshadow him, he was the winner. He noted that during these processes he received more than 14 million votes, 87% of the votes cast.
I almost have 3900 delegateswhich makes me the presumptive candidate of our party by a wide margin,” he said, referring to his majority heading into the convention.
The president rejects that this process is irrelevant: “The voters of the Democratic Party voted. They elected me as the candidate of the party,” he stressed.
I feel a depth obligation to the faith and trust of the voters of the Democratic Party have put their trust in me as their candidate for this year. It was his decision. Not the press, not the pundits, not the big donors, not a select group of people, no matter how well-intentioned. “Voters, and voters alone, decide the nominee of the Democratic Party,” he stressed.
