The sailing ship “Nadir” of the NGO “Resqship” rescued 50 migrants who were floating on a wooden boat in the central Mediterranean. The rescued were transferred to the rescue ship “Sea Eye 4”, which already had 50 migrants on board. Italian media reported that the rescue ship will dock in Italy.
Since the beginning of 2024, 26,202 migrants have arrived in Italy after a sea crossing across the Mediterranean. In the corresponding period of 2023, that number was 67,102. The decrease compared to the previous year is more than 60 percent, the Interior Ministry said on Sunday.

Most migrants come from Bangladesh, Syria and Tunisia. In the first half of 2024, 3,382 minors reached Italy, in the same period of 2023, there were 18,820 and in the first half of 2022, there were 14,044
