After a dispute escalated in a shopping mall in St. Pölten, two young people (17 and 18 years old) are now on trial in Lower Austria for making dangerous threats and withholding evidence. The trial has been postponed.
“Come to the garage if you are a man,” was the clear message from a youngster to his opponent in the Promenade shopping mall in St. Pölten. Enoughly encouraged by further insults, he did not let himself be asked for long. “We are going to fight,” reinforcements were quickly gathered.
Threatened with a gun
A large confrontation took place in the middle of the state capital. In the garage, the fight then escalated dramatically: one of the five boys suddenly pulled out a pocket knife. An 18-year-old then pulled out his gun and pointed the barrel at his counterpart. “I thought to myself: this is definitely not going to end well,” says a security guard who had been watching the group for a while and followed the fighters from the basement to the garage as a precaution.
Now the 18-year-old and his 17-year-old friend had to answer to the court for dangerous threats and withholding evidence. “I’ll shoot you,” the 18-year-old allegedly threatened his counterpart with a drawn gun.
The trial was postponed
After being charged in court, he gave the weapon – a blank pistol – to his friend to throw away. The 17-year-old is fully aware that he made evidence disappear. “I feel guilty about it,” he says. After two witnesses failed to appear without excuse, the trial was postponed.
