Western Ukraine was heavily bombarded with Russian cruise missiles on Tuesday night, authorities said.
At least three people were killed in the city of Lutsk, according to the head of the administration of the Volyn region, Yuriy Pohulyaiko. Several injured people have been taken to hospitals.
The city of Lviv (also: Lemberg) and the surrounding area were also hit, Mayor Andrij Sadowyj announced. In Lviv, the attic of an apartment building caught fire and the outer area of a kindergarten was hit. The affected areas of western Ukraine border Poland and thus NATO and the EU.
Air raid alarms all over the country
During the night there was an air raid alarm all over Ukraine. Russian fighter-bombers have fired 24 cruise missiles of various types over the Caspian Sea, the Ukrainian air force said in the morning.
