The US President’s own physician has been forced to ‘specify’ that Biden was visited by a specialist in this degenerative disease within the ‘annual medical tests’ and not outside of them.
The White House has published a letter from the doctor from the American President, Joe Bidenafter speculation about whether he is suffering Parkinson after visits to a specialist in the disease, amid public debate about his age and physical condition. Despite the rumors, the Democratic candidate has said that “he’s not going anywhere.”
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told a news conference that the president is not receiving treatment for Parkinson’s disease, despite repeated questions from reporters after reports of medical visits were published by The New York Times And The New York Post indicated that Kevin Cannard, an expert on the disease, had visited the presidential residence eight times between the summer of 2023 and this spring.
“Has the president been treated for Parkinson’s disease? No. Is he being treated for Parkinson’s disease? No, he is not. Is he taking medication for Parkinson’s disease? No,” said Jean-Pierre, who has refused to confirm the doctor’s visits to the White House, citing “security reasons.”
Jean-Pierre has stressed that Biden will be seen by a neurologist when he has his annual medical tests“Anytime you have medical tests, you have to go to a neurologist. That answers the question,” he said, before stressing that officials “can’t share the names” of the doctors who come to the White House, “whether it’s a dermatologist or a neurologist.”
‘Biden has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual tests’
The White House subsequently released a letter from Biden’s personal physician, Kevin O’Connor, stating that he had permission from the president and Cannard to provide details about these visits for the purpose of “accuracy” and specifying that “Cannard was the neurology specialist who examined Biden during his annual medical exams.”
O’Connor points out that Cannard “has been a neurology expert in the White House Medical Department since 2012” and stresses that “(Cannard’s) conclusions are published every time the results of physical tests are published.” “President Biden has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual tests,” he reiterates.
As the results of those neurological tests determined in February, “there were no findings consistent with brain or neurological disease.”
