Civic Courage in Vienna – Drunken Fallen Rescued from S-Bahn Tracks

Date:

Days ago, a drunken man had two very special guardian angels at the Hadersdorf train station in Vienna-Penzing. The 50-year-old had had too much to drink and fell onto the tracks. Before the S-Bahn arrived, two witnesses managed to save the injured man and bring the train to a standstill.

Sometimes you are in the right place at the right time. In retrospect, even a 50-year-old would probably think so. On July 4, around 7 p.m., the man stumbled drunk onto the platform of the Hadersdorf train station in the far west of Vienna. And lost my balance. He fell so heavily onto the tracks that he was left dazed with a head injury.

Witness ran towards the oncoming train
Two men – reportedly employees of the nearby spa town of Hadersdorf-Weidlingau – reacted with presence of mind. Because the S-Bahn S50 would arrive in one to two minutes, according to eyewitness Roman, who then reported to the “Krone”, someone ran towards the barrel train to draw attention to the accident in the station. Meanwhile, the other man lifted the injured man from the rails back onto the platform.

“Spectator” with an unnecessary tirade of insults
The train could be slowed down at the last moment, the driver got out and helped treat the injured before the Green Cross arrived. According to the professional rescue service, the accident victim must have drunk six to seven beers before he fell. In addition to all the civil courage, there was also excitement about a ‘spectator’ who had repeatedly asked the driver to finally drive on and let people out. “Normally, such people should receive heavy fines,” says eyewitness Roman.
