Salzburg police director Bernhard Rausch sees no gang crime in our country. He classifies the events of the past weeks and months as isolated cases. There is now an investigation team for juvenile crime.
State Police Director Bernhard Rausch referred to Salzburg’s crime statistics. “We cannot determine any deviations,” Rausch said, adding: “In Vienna, the situation is completely different than in Salzburg.” Even if attacks by youth groups with a migrant background do occur in this country, as was recently the case in Bischofshofen, these are mainly isolated cases for the domestic executive.
The situation is similar in the state capital, when stabbings occur among migrants. “But of course people’s subjective sense of security is different,” says the police director. A greater police presence after incidents should improve this again.
According to Rausch, there were no unusual incidents in Bischofshofen, when a Kosovar man was nearly beaten to death by seven young men. There is now an investigation team for juvenile crime. Prevention and education are also important points.
