On Monday morning, a 19-year-old was run over and killed by a trailer on the Ostautobahn (A4) in Schwechat in Lower Austria. The young Moroccan and three other people are believed to have entered Austria under the trailer.
According to the police, two of the victim’s compatriots and a Tunisian have applied for asylum. The 19-year-old may have lost his balance after the heavy vehicle came to a stop due to traffic. He fell onto the roadway and was run over as the truck continued on its way.
According to the police, the young Moroccan died at the scene of the accident. The investigation into the exact course of the accident and the search for the driver of the articulated truck are still in progress.

The tragic death of the 19-year-old “demonstrates once again the unscrupulousness and brutality of the smuggling mafia,” said Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP). Under the pretext of completely false facts, people are led to believe that they have the right to remain in Europe. At the same time, a smuggler’s wage of 3,000 to 5,000 euros is collected and death is simply accepted.
